When is it a good time to visit Bhutan?

Situated in the northern hemisphere, at a latitude around that of New Orleans, Bhutan has four distinct seasons.

In Winter, days are sunny and the sky bluewith spectacular views of snow-clad mountains though the nights are crispy cold.

Spring is the time to see the richness of rhododendrons and orchids.

Summer brings a light monsoon, which turns the landscape into a lush green carpet, and the terraces of mirror-like watered paddy fields add an extra dimension to the scenery.

Clouds, floating in the valley below eye-level, often like fluffy sheep, have a charm of their own. The days and evenings are warm, but of course you should expect so me rain (though not pouring rain as the guidebooks say).

Autumn has its own charm as leaves turn yellow, the terraced paddy fields are carpets of gold and days become cooler. Autumn, along with Spring, is a good time for many treks.

*Please keep in mind that guidebooks can often be misleading regarding the weather and best time to visit.
